Nursing: Passion, Pride and Promise Scholarship

Awarded to:   Full-time or Part-time students:  $250 (1 award)
Criteria:   1. Nursing major
2. Successfully completed NUR133 and NUR136
3. GPA at least 3.0
4. Completion of application (download from SCCC scholarship site)
5. Personal reflection essay entitled “Nursing: My Passion, Pride and Promise” (not to exceed 250 words)
6. Scholarship to be awarded for spring semester or graduation
7. Submit application to Nursing Program
8. Dean of School of Nursing designees will select recipient

Paul J. Fitzpatrick ‘91 Memorial Scholarships
Awarded to:   Full-time students:  $700 per semester (2 awards)
Part-time students:  $350 per semester (2 awards)
Criteria:   1. Application/acceptance into the Nursing program
2. Leadership skills, organizational ability and commitment to goals as evidenced in academics, extracurricular activities and/or community service
3. An essay describing the applicant’s educational or occupational goals
4. One professional letter of recommendation
5. An interview may be required
Renewal:   Both full-time and part-time scholarships are renewable for four semesters provided the student remains in good academic standing in the Nursing program.
Deadline:   For priority consideration, please submit application and all supporting documents by July 31.

Alice F. Kucmeroski RN Scholarship
Awarded to:   Full-time or Part-time students:  $500 (1 award)
Criteria:   1. First year student in Nursing Program
2. Non-traditional student
3. One personal statement (250 words or less)
4. One letter of recommendation
5. If funding allows and the recipient maintains a GPA of 3.0 each semester, the student may receive the scholarship for the second year
6. Application and supporting documents must be submitted to Cheryl Shaffer, Associate Dean for Nursing
7. A scholarship committee as appointed by the Associate Dean for Nursing will review all applications and make final determination

2. Enrolled in 2nd or subsequent semester of Nursing Program
3. Returning adult student who has child/children living at home
4. Minimum 3.0 GPA
5. Two SCCC faculty recommendations
6. Personal statement

Criteria:   1. Nursing major
2. 3.5 GPA for 24 credits

Knapp Swezey Foundation Nursing Scholarship
Awarded to:   Full-time students:  $5,000 (5 awards)
Criteria:   1. Enrolled in the School of Nursing, either in the Registered Nurse Program; or the Practical Nurse Program
2. One page essay on why you are pursuing a career in nursing and the impact a scholarship will have on your education and life (250 words maximum)
3. A scholarship committee as appointed by the Associate Dean for Nursing will review all applications and make final determinations
4. Submit application and supporting documents to Cheryl Shaffer, Associate Dean for Nursing

Linda Murphy Memorial Nursing Student Scholarship
Awarded to:   Full-time or Part-time students:  $500 (1 award)
Criteria:   1. Nursing major
2. One personal statement about the applicant’s educational and professional goals to include describing obstacles to achieving goals
3. One professional letter of qualification (i.e., counselor, social worker, clergy, or faculty member from School of Nursing)
4. Submit application to Scholarship Committee faculty in School of Nursing (Joan Anderson, Lisa Aymong, Donna Carra, Marie Hanna)

5. Awarded by the School of Nursing
6. Note: scholarship payable over two semesters
