Election of Professor Mancuso, President of the American Nurses Association (ANA) – New York

DATE:          #20, October 31, 2016

TO:                 The Campus Community

FROM:           Dr. James M. Keane, Executive Dean and Campus CEO

RE:                 Election of Professor Elisa Mancuso, President of the American Nurses Association (ANA) – New York

It is with great pride and enthusiasm that I am happy to announce the election of Professor Elisa Mancuso to the position of President of the American Nurses Association (ANA) – New York, the state constituent of the National American Nurses Association.  Launched in December 2012, ANA-New York is dedicated to promoting excellence in nursing practice, seeks to improve the quality of health care services, and promotes professional and leadership development of registered nurses. The ANA works tirelessly to foster high standards of nursing, promotes the professional and educational advancement of the profession, and is an advocate for the welfare of nurses to achieve the outcome of better health for all.  The organization provides a voice for all nurses across all specialties and practice settings. The organization serves over 4,200 members.

Professor Mancuso has served the organization as a charter member and a founding board member since December 2012.  She has served on many of the committees, including the ANA Membership Assembly, ANA-New York Strategic Planning Committee, ANA-New York Annual Committee Meeting, ANA-New York Nursing Education Committee and was recently selected to serve as the second alternate to the ANA Reference Committee.

In her inauguration address Professor Mancuso called on all members of the organization and her leadership team to continue to work to creatively address the focus of the organization’s strategic goals which include issues of: Health & Work Environment, Quality & Safety, Leadership Development, Membership and Mutual Partnerships.

Please join me in congratulating Professor Mancuso on her new position and wish her well as she serves as a voice for not only the ANA but Suffolk County Community College!
